Plot Summary

In Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die (2026), a quiet Los Angeles diner becomes the unlikely starting point for a mission to prevent humanity’s extinction. When a frantic man claiming to be from the future bursts in with a warning about an impending AI catastrophe, a handful of ordinary patrons are suddenly drafted into his desperate plan. There’s just one problem: the mission has already failed countless times. As the unlikely team struggles to make sense of the warning and their unexpected roles in stopping it, the situation spirals into chaotic and often absurd territory. Blending sci-fi adventure with dark comedy, the film plays with ideas about free will, human connection, and humanity’s uneasy relationship with technology.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die Quick Review (UnDigested Watch notes)

  • Incorporates elements of successful sci-fi, with vibes akin to Black Mirror and the Substance at times.
  • Interesting camera angles and strong attention to cinematography elevate scenes.
  • Near-perfect blend and balance of comedy, narrative, and action.
  • The world sits perfectly on the line between believable and absurd.
  • Some plot holes, but disbelief can easily be suspended. Certain sections feel a little slow or overexplained.
  • Really hits you over the head with the social commentary, but commits to the over-the-top satire, so it works.
  • Comedy in the first half is belly-ache hilarious, but falls off in the second half to move the plot. Understandable, but I wish they had kept the same energy throughout.
  • Undeniably imperfect, but this film is so fun that it went straight into my Letterbox Top 4.
