Project Hail Mary (2026)
Plot Summary
Project Hail Mary (2026) follows a middle school science teacher who awakens alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory of how he got there. As his memories slowly return, he discovers he’s part of a last-ditch mission to stop a mysterious phenomenon threatening the sun and life on Earth. With limited resources and only his scientific instincts to rely on, he must piece together both his past and a possible solution. An unexpected connection along the way transforms the mission into something far more meaningful—proving that even in the vastness of space, survival may depend on more than just science.
Project Hail Mary Review
(UnDigested Watch notes)
- This movie might as well have been written for Ryan Gosling. It’s apparent how involved he was; quintessential Gosling personality and humor throughout.
- Scientific enough to provide a plausible foundation for the movie to stand on, but not overly complex. Easy enough to follow while remaining engaging.
- More humorous than expected. Slightly forced in the beginning with one-liner after one-liner, but becomes more naturally funny as it goes on.
- A good blend of drama and comedy. Believable (to a point) despite its unlikely scenarios. Excellent chemistry between characters.
- Managing to inject such strong personality into an alien “rock” is impressive.
- Score is good, but a bit overwhelming at times, relying heavily on it to drive emotional scenes.
- Memory sequences are occasionally unclear and could have been implemented with more finesse and purpose.
- Well-focused on its strengths within the genre. Knows exactly what it offers.
- Stunning visuals; highlights memorable sequences instead of constant spectacle.
- Accomplishes what it sets out to do, but nothing more. A wonderful addition to the genre, though not groundbreaking or emotionally transformative.
Who Will Enjoy Project Hail Mary (2026)?
This film is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys a space odyssey that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Ryan Gosling fans will be especially pleased—this may be his strongest performance yet.
